Jim Glines, founder and president of Community Bank of Santa Maria in California, has the distinction of being the 2001 California State Champion Auctioneer.

"I grew up on a ranch and have attended auctions all of my life. I have always been intrigued by the 'chant' of the auctioneer. Auctions provide an environment where perceived value is determined through competitive bidding. An auction is economics in its purest form."

Glines graduated from the Wjimorld Champion College of Auctioneering in Bakersfield, California, in 1998. In 2000, he further honed his skills at the James Cecil Institute of Auctioneering in Santa Fe, New Mexico. There, his instructors unanimously voted him the "Outstanding Auctioneer of the Year."

Jim, whose motto is, "I'll Put Action in Your Auction!", has been at the helm of auctions for a number of organizations -- from schools to churches and from wine growers to museums.

Glines has been honored with repeat invitations to sell at Archie McLaren's Central Coast Wine Classic in San Luis Obispo, California; the Annual New Mexico State Police Sale held in Santa Fe, New Mexico; and the Simi Valley Education

Jim was honored to receive the prestigious 'Citizen of the Year' award from the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce in 2005. He also received the 'Citizen of the Year' award from the All American Santa Maria Elks Lodge in 2008. Past Exhaulted Ruler Kim Newman said, "It is doubtful that even Jim remembers all of the fundraising projects he has been involved with. You will hear his clear, rythmic chant at many fundraising auctions and charitable events."

Council, held at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California. Jim has also provided his team of professional bid spotters for the famed Napa Valley Wine Classic in Napa, California and the Sun Valley Center Wine Auction in Sun Valley, Idaho.
